Mohair Sustainability

South Africa produces around 53% of the world’s Mohair and Mohair South Africa (SA) assumes a leading role in the development of the global industry.

If the Mohair industry is to be sustainable, agricultural and biodiversity resources must be conserved and where necessary and possible, restored. The existence of global climate change adds to the imperative of sustainable agriculture use.

IMT UK LTD’s commitment

We are working with our key fibre suppliers to produce only sustainable natural fibres and we are specialising in buying from sources who are concentrating on becoming fibre production sustainable accredited.

The producers are looking to improve their production systems which in turn will satisfy consumer market requirements, especially where natural resources are not being depleted or wasted. These accreditations are based on voluntary assessments and include economic and environmental factors plus animal welfare and social accountability considerations.
